Today in 2017, Kyle is adamant that music has saved his life having focussed on his vocation as a hip hop artist. It's OK to not be OK
“My name is Kyle Hignett and I am a Hip Hop artist from Warrington UK.
I got involved in music as a way to cope with my mental health problems, I was diagnosed with a Borderline Personality Disorder at the age of 20 and music has saved my life. Not only has it given me a positive way to cope with my illness, but I have also found a way to help those who suffer, overcome theirs too.
Music is and always will be a powerful medium for spreading a positive message. During my years growing up, music was a way for me to relate to the struggles and triumphs of the artist.
It gave me a reason to keep moving forward.
The message I am trying to spread with my music is, it's ok to not be ok. A strong person must hit rock bottom before they can fully appreciate their good moments. Some of the strongest people I know have considered themselves broken at one time or another.
We cannot begin to move forward without first talking about the problem”
Dr Lecter
“Dr Lecter' Is the opening Record on my debut album.. The MaDMaNs Diary. The album focuses on the parts of Mental Health that people find too controversial to speak out loud about. This Record in particular is told from my own perspective... my experiences dealing with Mental Health professionals... my own inner battles and a twisted view on what I believe is one of the biggest challenges we as humans face in the present day.”
